The Notion of Páthos in the Light of Metaphysics V and Categories 8 of Aristotle

Abstract
In this work we will focus on Aristotle's treatment of the notion of πάθος in Metaph. V 14 and 21, and Cat. 8, that is, in two books in which the approach to this notion is clearly logical-metaphysical. Since Aristotle takes up and reinterprets many of the meanings that the term had in his time, we will first briefly review the meanings that πάθος had in Antiquity and then focus on the analysis of the aforementioned works. Although in doing so we must refer to the unavoidable fact that the Stagirite uses this term to refer to affective phenomena, our intention is not to analyze the emotions and passions in this thinker, but rather to examine the semantic complexity of πάθος and, therefore, the need to reconsider its translation in light of its context of occurrence.
